Mana recenzija (pārdomas)/My (thoughts) review

Piespiedu brīvprātīgā Šeja atrodas ballītē Poison Ivy tērpā, jo pēc Draudzības līguma (ar draudzeni Keilu)otrās nodaļas ceturtā punkta, kurā minēts, ka gadījumā, ja vienai vajadzēs palīdzību mīlestības nosargāšanā~, otra nedrīkst atteikties no nekā, lai palīdzēt. Bet Šeja nebija iztēlojusies, ka viņai piesiesies tizls Betmens.

Pat, ja konkrētais Betmens būtu sakarīgāks, Šeja diezin vai ielaistos tik ātri pēc sāpīgas (ne tikai emocionāli, bet arī finansiāli) šķiršanās no puiša un reizē bosa Trevisa; tagad nākas piestrādāt trijos darbos, lai savilktu galus. Šeju uzaudzināja un izskoloja vecmāmiņa, kura Šejai palikusi ļoti mīļa atmiņās. Šeja nav no tievākajām meitenēm, tā teikt ir miesa uz kauliem, tā iemesla dēļ Šeja bērnībā un arī pat tagad tikusi aizskarta un apsmieta – diemžēl gan no mātes, gan Trevisa(šķiršanās iemesls) un arī daža laba cita puses.

Viss mainās, kad viņu no tā paša Betmena uzmākšanās tumšā autostāvietā izglābj Hjū. Hjū, kā tas romantikas žanram piederas ir viss komplekts – muskuļi, sešpaka un pro gultā. Hjū lieliski saprot, ka attiecībām viņa dzīvē šobrīd nav vietas, īpaši, ņemot vērā viņa (automehāniķis – kopā ar brāli pieder darbnīca) nodarbošanās netīro pusi, auto zagšanu. Pēc tēva kārtējas izgaišanas, atstājot ģimeni pamatīgos parādos, un ne jau bankai, bet gan kriminālam bosam, kas atmaksu, zinot Hjū prasmes, grib saņemt graudā un ar kārtīgiem procentiem.

Domājams esmu to pieminējis iepriekš, lasot jebkādu romantiku, ka šis žanrs nav man komforta zona, bet jāsaka godīgi, ka nebija slikti : ).  Neesmu arīdzan ‘’mīlestības no pirmā acu skatiena’’ fans. Biju patīkami pārsteigts, ka pēc tāda sākuma, pirmā 18+ aina bija vien pēc ~60 lapaspuses (pluss, ka pārlieku neatkārtojās). Vairāk patika, kad stāsta uzmanība tika pievērsta Hjū un Šejas attiecībām, kā arī katram atsevišķi. Abiem ir gan sāpīga pagātne, gan krietna daļa noslēpumu, kas var patraucēt nākotnes kopībai.

Nebija grūti uzminēt, kurš tēls būs sērijas otrās grāmatas uzmanības centrā, tas tikai loģiski.

Partly of free will and partly because she was forced Shay is at a costume party as Poison Ivy. She was forced to be there because of her friend Kayla and their Friendship contract in which one point says that if one of them is in pursuit to secure love the other has help no matter what. But Shay didn’t imagine that she would be harassed by horrible Batman.

Even if the mentioned Batman would be more coherent, I doubt that Shay would be interested after more than a painful (not only on emotional level but also financially) separation from Travis, her boyfriend and boss at the same time; now Shay has to work three jobs to pay the bills. She was raised and schooled thanks to her grandmother, about whom she has very sweet memories. Shay isn’t a skinny girl, she has some flesh on her bones, unfortunately because of that she has been laughed at throughout her life – even by her mother, Travis (the reason for separating) and by others.

Everything changes when Shay is saved from that same Batman in a dark parking lot. She is saved by Hugh, and of course accordingly to a romantic genre he has everything – muscles, a six pack, and a pro in bed. Hugh understand that there is no place for permanent relationship in his life right now, considering the deep hole their father (Hugh has a brother and sister) got them into before disappearing. Hugh partly owns a mechanic shop with his brother Joe. Because of the debt to a crime boss Al by their dad, now to repay (with interest) they have steal high end cars for him.

I think I have mentioned in previous reviews of romantic novels that reading this kind of book is out of my comfort zone, but I honestly can say that this wasn’t that bad. Also, I’m not a fan of love by the first sight. I was pleasantly surprised that the first sex scene was just after page 60 (another plus that there wasn’t a noticeable repetition in them). I liked more when the attention was directed towards Hugh and Shay’s relationship and to both of individually. They both have a painful past and a good share of secrets, who knows if that, might eventually break them apart.

It wasn’t hard at all to guess which character will be at center of attention in the second book that was only logical.

This book was a good break from the usual style of books that I tend to read.
