Grāmatas apraksts no Goodreads/Synopsis from Goodreads:

“Y” is none other than unemployed escape artist Yorick Brown (his father was a Shakespeare buff), and he’s seemingly the only male human left alive after a mysterious plague kills all Y-chromosome carriers on earth. But why are he and his faithful companion, the often testy male monkey Ampersand, still alive? He sets out to find the answer (and his girlfriend), while running from angry female Republicans (now running the government), Amazon wannabes that include his own sister (seemingly brainwashed), and other threats. The Vertigo team of Brian K. Vaughan, Pia Guerra, and José Marzán Jr. have given us a great read!

Mana recenzija (pārdomas)/My (thoughts) review

Tas tiek apskatīts grafiskās noveles sērijā Y: The Last Man.

***************************************

What would the world be like if there would be only one gender? Would it really be better or more likely the exact opposite and the invisible balance would be broken and tipped over. This graphic novel series looks at the situation like that. The logical explanation for what Y means would XY chromosome but the alternative could be how it sounds – why.

Completely without men the world hasn’t been left. Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersands very likely are last two on the whole planet. The reasons why they are alive but everyone else suddenly died are not clear.

When the mentioned balance is lost and the society slips into some sort of chaos. You might think that are enough educated and skillful women out there to not let that happen, but for some reason that’s not what happens. The tragic event has created a military group/gang called Amazons that have made their goal to destroy everything associated with men.

After two months of the event Yorick has managed to see his mother again, she is a politician (now in a bit higher position). After making sure that his mother is ok his thoughts go straight to his fiancé in Australia and only hard talking convinces him to stay and help his country or at least to find his sister. An interesting cliff-hanger at the end. : )
