Marissa Meyer – Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3)

Cress - Marissa Meyer

Grāmatas apraksts no Goodreads/Synopsis from Goodreads:

In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Mana recenzija/My review

Komanda, kura cer to paveikt nav tā tipiskākā, kas varētu nākt prātā.

Būs interesanti (cerams) uzzināt pretējās puses, t.i. Levanas, stāsta versiju starpgrāmatā Fairest.

The royal wedding between emperor Kai and Lunar queen Levana is getting closer by each day. The emperor can’t complain for the lack of critique for that decision or support and defense. But one thing is clear; there ain’t much time to do something to change the course of events!

The team/characters that are hoping to do that isn’t the typical one that someone might imagine.

Cinder tries to comprehend that she is the princess that the legend talks about and everyone believes to be dead. The pressure on her shoulders, and not just overthrowing Levana, but also what comes after that makes her head spin. Iko was wonderful, but probably not everyone properly appreciates her. Unfortunately Scarlet is taken out and doesn’t do much for most of the book and double unfortunate it is because that makes Wolf almost useless.

Cress mainly was remarkably irritating. You would imagine that after separation as a baby from her parents because she is a shell plus for the last seven years living alone on the satellite with only rare visits would make her different and stranger. But that quality and also that Cress is naïve and too trusting makes the impression even worse. What she adds to others (to team) is her talent with electronic and computers, her hacking skills. But that doesn’t compensate all the minuses.

I guess you could put equality sign between YA and romance because again there is a new paired couple – Cress and Captain Carswell Thorne. Is it really that necessary?! It’s hard enough for Thorne. :/

I’m hoping that it might be more interesting to find out what the other side (queen Levana) has to say than this story/book.
