Chew pasaules medicīna un to, ko var panākt, ja ir pietiekami līdzekļi, ir kaut kas vienreizējs, jo visi galvenākie tēli izdzīvojuši pēc katastrofālās cīņas ar Vampīru, un nu dzīvo ar dažādām neparastām protēzēm.

Nebiju domājis, ka lielā cīņa starp Toniju un Vampīru notiks jau šajā voljumā. Vismaz tiek sniegts labs iemesls Poyo nāvei, kuram lemts atgriezties ellē, un nav jābaidās, ka viņam tur klātos smagi. :D

Varētu domāt, ka sērijai būtu pienācis loģisks gals, tomēr tā nebūt nava. Uzzināsim kas tur īsti bija ar to uzrakstu debesīs un vēl šo to.

Jāpiekrīt viedoklim, ka dažādo spēju kļuvis par daudz; pats vien izlasu spēju aprakstu un īpašo nosaukumu skipoju.

Chew world’s medicine and things you can do with enough resources is something amazing because every important character that was heavily injured after disastrous fight with Vampire, and now they live with unusual prosthetics.

I didn’t thought that the big fight between Tony and Vampire would be in this volume. At least we have a good reason why Poyo had to die; he is condemned to return to hell but no need to fear that it might hard for him there. :D

You might think that this could be a logical end to the series but no. We still have to find out about the weird sky writing and few other things.

I have to agree to the opinion that there are a bit too many food powers; personally I just read their description and skip the special word.

Mana recenzija (pārdomas)/My (thoughts) review

Tonijs zina, kad un kā (vismaz aptuveni) būtu jānorit viņai cīņai ar Vampīru un minētā ļaundara norietam. Diemžēl ne visi, pat Meisons un Kolbijs, neklausās brīdinājumos un pakļauj dzīvības briesmām ne vien sevi, bet arī kolēģus un draugus. Intriga par to, kurš paliks dzīvajos, un, vai kādam nepaveiksies.

Cerams Kolbija un viņa kolēģa/priekšnieka laulības mūžs nebūs tik īss, kā tas šobrīd šķiet. :)

Noslēguma aina nāca pilnībā negaidīti! :/ Turpina būt gan drusku šokējošs, gan vardarbības/asiņu pilns, bet varbūt nedaudz sāk atkārtoties. Un, ja Vikipēdijai var ticēt, sērijā palikuši vien 3 voljumi jeb 15 izdevumi; nav īpaši liels apjoms, kur visu kārtīgi atrisināt.

Tony knows how and when his meeting and fight with Vampire will happen. So it’s unfortunate that even Mason and/or John Colby doesn’t listen to his warning to back off and wait for a better time and opportunity and endanger their colleagues and friends. A little intrigue about who will manage to stay alive and who will not be so lucky.

Hopefully the marriage between Colby and his boss won’t be that short as it seems now. :)

The ending for me came out of nowhere! :/ Chew continues to be a bit shocking and brutal and bloody, but it starts to repeat itself. Plus, if I can believe to what Wikipedia says then there are only 3 volumes or 15 issues left in the series; not much time to work everything out.

Pēc mešanās darbā ar pilnu jaudu, nu Toniju pārņēmis pavisam depresīvs noskaņojums; turklāt šī jau ir otra ļoti cilvēka nāve viņa dzīvē.

Tomēr, lai gan Antonelle jeb Tonija jau ir mirusi, bet pilnībā aizgājusi nav, jo, pateicoties savām spējām, jau nojauta par gaidāmo likteni un sagatavoja tā teikt sastāvdaļu ģimenes receptei. Jāpaspēj taču iedrošināt cīņai pret Vampīru!

Meisons piesaistījis jaunu sabiedroto Kolbiju un turpina bīdīt savas lietas. Diemžēl Poyo gandrīz nemaz neparādījās, laikam aizņemts īpašākās misijās. Uzzinām arī par interesantu planētu 24 gaismas gadu attālumā, uz kuras arī pastāv (pastāvēja?) dzīvība, un šķiet viņu rakstība atbilst uzrakstam debesīs pāris voljumus atpakaļ.

                                                                                                                                                                

After throwing himself back into the work, now Tony’s mood is completely depressive; furthermore this is the second death of a very close people to Tony.

However Antonelle or just Toni is already dead she hasn’t left us for 100%. Thanks to her power she knew what’s coming for her so let’s just say she prepared an ingredient for the family recipe. Someone has to encourage Tony in time for the fight against Vampire!

Savoy Mason has found new ally in the John Colby and keeps doing his things. Unfortunately Poyo showed himself only briefly, I guess he’s busy in the more special missions. We also find out about a interesting planet 24 light years away from us on which exists (or just existed?) a life, and their writing matches to the one that showed up in the skies few volumes ago.

Labākais veids, kā Tonijs spēj tikt galā ar dvīņumāsas slepkavību, ir mešanās darbā ar pilnu krūti, un par savu galveno mērķi pasludina slepkavas, kas sevi sauc par Vampīru un kolekcionē citu ar ēdienu saistītu cilvēku spējas, bet ne tikai, sodīšanu pēc pilnas programmas. Solās būt interesanti! : )

Šis voljums pēc noskaņojuma sanācis pagaidām visnopietnākais.

Arī Kolbijam nebūs garlaicīgi atrodoties un nemaz negribot izveidodams stabilu un abiem pārējiem vienam otru respektējošu mīlas trijstūri.

Un, kamēr valdība uz vistas gaļas lietošanu jau skatās maigāk, atrodas fanātiķi, kas izmanto vardarbību, lai tam pretotos.

                                                                                                                                                                          

The best way Tony knows how to deal with grief is jump right back into the job and setting as the main goal to catch the killer, who calls himself the Vampire and collects other people’s food (and even other skills) related powers, and to punish him fully. Sounds to be interesting in the next volumes! : )

This volume by the mood was the most serious one so far.

It seems that it won’t be boring for Colby too, as he has successfully managed to stuck and to be shared in the relationship between two agencies bosses, a peaceful love triangle. :D

And while the government is willing to ease up considering the consumption of chicken there are some fanatics who are using terror to resist that.

Poyo! Nu tas ir zvērs! Un arī mans mīļākais tēls Chew sērijā. Starp nodaļām/izdevumiem viņam veltīta atsevišķa sadaļa, parādot, kā gan Poyo palika dzīvs, un, ka pat elle, tās valdnieks un visi iemītnieki nespēj viņu tur noturēt.

Ir zināms, ka Chew pasaulē pēc putnu gripas plosīšanās vistu gaļa aizliegta, bet tas atjautīgiem un izdomas bagātiem cilvēkiem nav nekāds šķērslis, jo var taču radīt varžu un vistu krustojumu. :D

Kamēr Tonijs atgūstas no pēdējiem notikumiem un pats cīnās palīkt dzīvo pasaulē, notikumi turpina ritēt spraigi. Tāpēc šoreiz esam vairāk kopā ar Tonija dvīņu māsu, kuru atpazīst aģents Cēzars (turpina sazināties ar Meisonu), bet viņa pati mēģina to noliegt. Diemžēl beigās pamats nelielām bēdām.

                                                                                                                                           

Poyo! Now that’s an animal! And now my favorite character in this series. Between chapters/issues there’s an interlude just for him showing how Poyo managed to stay alive and that even the king of hell and everyone in there can’t keep him down there.

We know that in the world of Chew chicken meat is illegal because of the recent bird flu, but for resourceful people that’s no obstacle because you can always create a mix breed between chicken and frogs. :D

While Tony recovers from the recent events and fights to stay alive himself, everything keeps going tensely. That’s why this time we are following Tony’s twin sister, and agent Caesar Valenzano, who keeps to cooperate with Mason, recognizes her although she tries to deny that. Unfortunately the ending gives you a good reason for little mourning.

Ja iepriekšējā voljumā varēja teikt, ka Tonija un Kolbijam neiet viegli, tad tagad tā teikt būtu maigi sacīts. Aboļbite parūpējies, ka, kamēr Tonijs pārcelts patrulēt ielas uz segveja kiltos, tikmēr Kolbijs pārsūtīts uz USDA aģentūru un par pārinieku ieguvis kiborglauvu~.

Major League uzzinām, ko Meisons ieplānojis Tonija meitas Olīvijas sakarā. Gandrīz vai visa ģimene pilna ar īpaši īpatnējiem cilvēkiem. Ja pirms tam nolaupīja meitu, tad šoreiz identisku pēc vārda būtības piedzīvo tēvs.

Šis voljums bija labāks un dod cerību, ka tā varētu turpināties. : ) Patīkami pārsteidza kāda tēla brīnumaina atgriešanās, to pat nevar apzīmēt, cik ļoti! :D

Jāpiebilst, ka Tonija un Amēlijas attiecībām šķiet nekādi šķēršļi nespēj stāties ceļā.

                                                                                                                                           

If I said about the previous volume that it’s not easy for Tony and Colby than now I think they would be happy about that. Applebee made sure that while Tony was transferred to patrol streets on a segway in kilt, Colby is transferred to USDA agency and as a partner receives cyborg lion.

In the Major League we find out what Mason is planning for Tony’s daughter Olive. It seems that almost entire (not all) Chu family have some kind of food related power. If in the fourth volume the kidnapped one was Olive then this time the same happens to the father.

This volume gives hope that the next ones and the series might improve. : ) I was pleasantly surprised by the wondrous return of a certain character. Can’t even express how much! :D

It’s enjoyable to see that nothing will stand in the way of Tony’s and Amelia’s relationship.

Trešā voljuma beigās debesīs parādījās ugunīgs uzraksts nevienam nesaprotamā valodā. Gan Tonijam, gan viņa partnerim Kolbijam pienākušas nepatīkami brīži, ne tikai tādā ziņā, ka viņu priekšnieks Āboļbite (Applebee) šķiet ir apņēmies no viņiem netiešā veidā tikt vaļā.

Tonijs nekādīgi nerada priekšstatu par sevi, kas norādītu, ka viņš būtu tēvs. Šajā ziņā interesantas beigas, un atkal savu roku pieliek Meisons. Turpinot par Tonija radiniekiem, uzzinām, ka arī dvīņu māsai  Tonijai ir interesantas spējas.

Lai gan ar asinīm autori neskopojas, bet vismaz dzīvnieku(s), kur nu vēl gailīšus, jau varēja neiejaukt!

Diemžēl sižetiskā ziņā šis voljums neizcēlās uz iepriekšējo fona, protams, māksla joprojām ievērojama un bauda acīm. : )

                                                                                                                                           

At the end of third volume a mysterious writing in a language no one understands showed up in the skies. For both Tony and his partner Colby these days aren’t easy and are filled with unpleasant moments, for a while you might think that their boss Applebee wants to get rid of them.

In no way Tony makes a perception that he might be a father. Thinking about that, there is an interesting ending involving Mason. Continuing about Tony’s relatives we find out that his twin sister also has some skills/powers considering food.

Although there are plenty of blood at least they could leave alone animals, especially one special rooster!

Unfortunately this volume didn’t stand out on the background of previous ones, of course the art still is great and a treat for eyes. : )

Ja pateicoties filmai Unfriended esmu pārstājis lietot Skype :D, tad tagad paldies jāsaka gailim Poyo kā dēļ uz šiem putniem tikpat mierīgi vairs nevarēs paskatīties. Bet nopietni, tajā putnā mājo nelabi spēki!

Tuvāk voljuma beigām iepazīstam plašo Tonija radu saimi. Un noslēgumā tiku pamatīgi nošokēts šajā sakarā, kā arī tiekam atstāti, karājoties gluži kā pie klints. Pagaidām maz ko teikt par Tonija un Amēlijas attiecībām/romantisko stāsta pusi šajā sērijā, bet garlaicīgi nava. :) Grūti iedomāties, cik vēl asiņu varētu lapaspusēs parādīt.

                                                                                                                                           

Thanks to the movie Unfriended I haven’t used Skype since, and know thanks to the rooster Poyo I might not be able to look at those birds so calmly. But seriously, that bird is possessed by some bad demon!

Closer to the end the reader is introduced to Tony’s many family members. And right at the end I was shocked because of the reveal relating that; plus we are left with a good cliffhanger. It’s hard say something about Tony’s and Amelia’s relationship (yet) but boring it isn’t. :) Difficult to imagine how more blood they can fit in those pages.

Interesants pavērsiens izmeklēšanā, īpatnējs auglis, kas pēc pagatavošanas garšo identiski kā vista, aizved Toniju uz vienu no Mikronēzijas salām, kuras pārvaldība, šķiet, nav no tām demokrātiskākajām, pie reizes.

… wow! Ja par Vol.1 minēju, ka tik traki ar asinīm nav, tad šajā grāmatā apgriezieni palielināti daudzkārtīgi. Kopējā stāstā tiek ievadīti un tiekam iepazīstināti ar dažiem jauniem tēliem, kā arī tiek pievienots pārdabiskā aspekts, ja ar ēdienu vēl nepietika.

(Vēl) jāpiebilst, ka Tonijam piešķir jaunu/veco pārinieku. Tā vien liekas, ka par joku un humora trūkumu nenāksies sūdzēties. Intrigai, Meisons pieminēts garāmejot, un viņa iesaiste un ietekme notikumos varētu nebūt maza.

                                                                                                                                           

An interesting turn in the case, a peculiar fruit which after it’s been cooked tastes just like chicken, brings Tony to one of Micronesia’s island, whose governor doesn’t seem to be on the side of democracy.

… just wow! If I said that Vol.1 wasn’t that gory and bloody then in this volume the action has been turned up a notch. There are few new characters introduced to the story, also a supernatural aspect is added if the food thing wasn’t enough.

Tony receives a new/old partner. It seems that I won’t need to complain for the lack of jokes and humour. And for the intrigue, Mason was mentioned but only briefly; his involvement looks a bit bigger.

Tonijs kļūst par aģentu F.D.A. aģentūrā, kas, šķiet, pamatā nodarbojas ar vistu un to produktu, tai skaitā gaļas, kontroli, kas kopš putnu gripas uzliesmojuma aizliegti. Kas padara Toniju īpašu ir viņa spējas, apēdot, piemēram, ābola kumosu viņš spēs pateikt, kas ar to ticis darīt, un, kā tas izaudzēts, līdz tam brīdim.

Ar šādām spējām Tonijs nav vienīgais, līdzīgi ir arī ar viņa jauno partneri (īslaicīgi gan) Meisonu Savoju. Ainas ar viņu vismaz pagaidām bijušas iespaidīgas; tā teikt badass. Neiztrūkst arī visai grafisku un asiņainu epizožu, bet tik ļoti, lai riebumā novērstos vai kā, arī nav.

Var arī drusku pasmaidīt un iesmiet; ir neliels (melnais) humors. Patika arī segmenti, dodot nelielu tēla aprakstu. Ir gan labas bildes, kuras pētīt, gan teksts pietiekoši daudz; nav tā kā vienā mirklī sāc un gandrīz vai esi pie beigām.

                                                                                                                                           

Tony Chu becomes an F.D.A. agent which mostly deals with control of chickens and their products including meat that are illegal since the outbreak of bird flu. What makes Tony special is his ability, after eating something, for example an apple, even just from a bite he knows how it’s been grown and what has done to it until that moment.

Tony isn’t the only one with such abilities, his new partner (but not for long) Mason Savoy have something similar. All parts with him are spectacular and just badass. There are some gory and bloody moments but not so bad to turn away or something like that.

At some points the smile just creeps in, there’s a good, little (black) humor. I also liked the parts with little description of some characters. The art is good; enough to spend some time to stare at them and enough text so you don’t finish the book in a flash.
