Grāmatas apraksts no Goodreads/Synopsis from Goodreads:

The United States government is given a warning by the pre-eminent biophysicists in the country: current sterilization procedures applied to returning space probes may be inadequate to guarantee uncontaminated re-entry to the atmosphere. Two years later, seventeen satellites are sent into the outer fringes of space to collect organisms and dust for study. One of them falls to earth, landing in a desolate area of Arizona. Twelve miles from the landing site, in the town of Piedmont, a shocking discovery is made: the streets are littered with the dead bodies of the town’s inhabitants, as if they dropped dead in their tracks.

Mana recenzija (pārdomas)/My (thoughts) review

Pirms jau kāda laiciņa bija tā laime noklausīties lielisko Jurassic Park, tāpēc izšķīros atšķirīgo The Andromeda Strain pavirzīt TBR listē uz augšu; varbūt vajadzēja tieši atlikt.

Beigas grāmatai, kura nav daļa no sērijas, šķita pārāk nenoteiktas.

***************************************

Quite some time ago I had that luck to listen to the great Jurassic Park, that’s why decided to move up The Andromeda Strain on my TBR list, maybe I shouldn’t have done that.

Unfortunately this book was missing something so that that it could reach that level. Maybe that it was like that because of the lack of the experience as this is one of his earlier works. Both characters and settings weren’t that developed and introduced, so to say where something is happening. Also there is plenty of technical jargon instead of more interesting plot.

Of course if you look you can find something positive. The idea about the method of how aliens my make the contact was brilliant, instead of flying here themselves in the spaceships, they sent into the Universe uncountable amount of copies of themselves as a single cell which with the right circumstances can grow into a full organism. But the best thing is that there isn’t anything like that on Earth. Such a discovery flabbergasts all the Scientists (with the big S because all scientist characters couldn’t be distinguishable).

No less interesting is the interaction between these cells and the living life on Earth. As the synopsis already reveals then the initial effect with few exceptions saying lightly isn’t preferable. That’s why it becomes very important to study and find out as much as possible about them. However, as we know what viruses are used to do, no one has denied to also these cells to mutate and change the effect they cause.

The conclusion for me were too vague.
