Mana recenzija (pārdomas)/My (thoughts) review
Nelielajā Black Waters pilsētiņā katram ir sirdij tuvs noslēpums, dažs labs tumšs un skapī slēpjams. Arī Regīnai tādu ir ne mazums, kad pēc 6 gadu prombūtnes, pēc skolas beigšanas, viņa atgriežas uz bērnības draudzenes Lolas bērēm.
Situāciju baisu padara Lolas nāves apstākļi. Lola, Regīna, kā arī Natālija un Nikija pirms tam bija burtiski nešķiramas un gandrīz visu darīja kopā. Gandrīz, jo pirms 8 gadiem visas, izņemot Lolu (mācījās eksāmenam skolas bibliotēkā), bija devušās uz ballīti. Un nākamajā dienā Lola ir pazudusi bezvēsts, un neviens nemāk pateikt, kur palikusi. Bet tagad viņas līķi atrasts mežā, atkritumu maisos, sagriezts gabalos. Šis šokējošais atklājums no jauna satricina katru Black Waters iedzīvotāju.
Regīna izjūt nepārvaramu nepieciešamību veikt pašai savu izmeklēšanu, lai uzzinātu, kas īsti toreiz notika ar draudzeni, zinot mazās pilsētiņas policijas kapacitāti. Sastopam arī Baronu Forti (Regīnas bijušais), un līdz pat zināmam brīdim šķita, ka abi varētu atkal saiet kopā, un nekas nebūtu bijis pret. Bet, ak vai!
Tomēr pats lielākais The Secret Keepers noslēpums saistās ar īpašumu, uz kura tika atrasts Lolas līķis, un tās priekšpēdējo īpašnieku Glenu (tagad jau miris), kurš toreiz visām četrām katru otrdienu pasniedza klavierstundas, bet aiz slēgtām durvīm, nevienam citam neredzot, notika kas vairāk par vienkāršu taustiņspēli.
Salīdzinot ar otro sērijas grāmatu The Unwanted (katru var lasīt atsevišķi), par šo var teikt vēl vairāk slavinošu vārdu, un bailīgākajiem lasītājiem varbūt varētu uzdzīt pa kādam murgam. Par laimi, pats no šāda likteņa izvairījos, lai gan pēdējās nodaļas pabeidzu, kad ārā jau metās tumšs. Piebildīšu vēl to, ka pārsteidzu pats sevi, izlasīdams grāmatu vienā dienā, kas, neskaitot grafiskās novelēs, pēdējā laikā gadās ļoti reti.

In the little Black Waters town everyone has a secret that’s close to their heart, some are very dark and are being like a skeletons in the closet. Regina also have many secrets, she after finishing school went away for 6 years and is coming back because of the funeral of her childhood friend Lola.
What make everything more fearful are the circumstances of Lola’s death. Before that Lola, Regina and also Natalie and Nikki were literarily inseparable and almost everything they did together. Almost, because 8 years ago each of them, except Lola (was learning at the school’s library for exam), went to a party. And the next day Lola was missing and no one was able to tell where she could be. But now her body has been found cut up into pieces at the forest in garbage bags. This gruesome discovery deeply shocks every citizen of Black Water’s.
Regina feels compelled urge to investigate on her own what happened back then to her friend, knowing the capacity of the little town’s police force. We also meet Barron Forte (Regina’s ex-boyfriend), and up to a certain point it seemed that they might go back together with which I was actually ok. But, oh my!
However the biggest secret in The Secret Keepers is linked with the property on which Lola’s body was found and its owners DeFrank family. Glen DeFrank at that time gave piano lessons to all four girls every Tuesday, but behind closed doors no could have imagined what, besides simple piano playing, was happening.
Comparing this one to the series’ second book The Unwanted (both can be read as standalones) I can say even more laudatory words, and maybe this book can give nightmares to more easily frightened readers. Luckily I escaped such a fate, although I finished the last chapters when it was getting dark. I will only add that I surprised myself by finishing The Secret Keepers in one day, which except graphic novels happens very rarely now.

I feel that this would truly spook me! It sounds so dark and twisted. The fact that it’s not a fantasy and based on real human psyche creeps me out even more. Though, it sounds quite engaging as it kept you hooked until the very end. Glad you enjoyed it, Arnis.
There were few times when the main character had a dream in a dream which got to me :D
