Mana recenzija (pārdomas)/My (thoughts) review

Deivids Storms nāk no pasaules, kur jebkura novirze no normas jeb no patiesā Dieva veidola, tiek nīdēta laukā un izkausta. Vari tikt kastrēts un izraidīts no komūnas, vai pat nogalināts. Pat būt kreilim ir bīstami, kur nu vēl ar kādu lieku pirkstu, garīgu atpalicību utt.

Nav paskaidrots, kas licis sabiedrībai tā regresēt, kļūt tik reliģiozai un neiecietīgai pret atšķirīgo. Mans minējums, ka tas saistīts ar kodolieročiem. Lai gan cilvēki atceras, ka agrāk cilvēki bijuši tehnoloģiski attīstītāki, apokaliptiskajam notikumam būs bijis jānorisinās pirms krietna laika, lai pat vecākajai paaudzei minētā filozofija un uzskati ieaudzināti līdz kaulam.

No tēvoča, izbijuša jūrnieka, Deivids uzzina, ka katrā apdzīvotā vietā, kur tēvocis pabijis, cilvēki uzskatījuši sevi par patieso veidolu, pēc kā citiem būtu jālīdzinās. Diemžēl (vai drīzāk par laimi) nedz smagais reliģiskais piesitiens, nedz ideja par šādu sabiedrību, kura atbalsta vienu noteiktu formu, un par sabiedrības ‘’tīrību’’, negāja pie sirds. Šķiet, viņi neapzinās, ka var būt dažādas dzīvnieku un augu sugas, ka attīstība neapstājas, kādā noteiktā momentā. Kā piemēru var minēt Deivida tēva sašutumu, ka valdība atļāvusi eksistēt diviem zirgiem, kuri ir pārāk lieli un būtu drīzāk nogalināmi, vai citu tēlu pārsteigumu par skuju koku eksistenci (tā teikt ‘’Nu kā kaut kam tādām var ļaut eksistēt’’)

Radiācija radījusi ne tikai vizuāli pamanāmus mutantus, kā ‘’normālie’’ sauc pārējos, bet arī cilvēkus ar spējām sazināties attālināti/telepātiski, un doma tāda, ka ar vārdiem cilvēks nespēj paust savas izjūtas un visu citu, ko un kā gribētu pateikt, kas arī bijis galvenais iemesls iepriekšējās sabiedrības pagrimumam. Nu nez…

David Storm lives in a world where even the slightest deviation from the norm or the true image of God is fought against. You can be castrated and pushed out of the community or even killed. Not even mentioning extra finger or mental illness etc, even being left handed isn’t safe.

It’s not said what exactly happened for the society to regress and become so religious and intolerant against diversity. My guess would be that there is some link to nuclear weapons. Although people remember times when people were more technologically advanced, the apocalyptical event had to have happened a long time ago if even the elders have strong belief in this philosophy and point of view.

From his uncle, former sailor, David learns that in every populated area which he visited, citizens of that place believed that they are the true image. Unfortunately (or more likely fortunately) I wasn’t a fan nor of the strong religious note or the idea about this society’s way of living, which supports the purification of the race. It seems that these people don’t realize that there isn’t one perfect form and everything during the time changes (evolution), and that there all kinds of species. For example David’s father gets very mad when he finds out that two horses that are bigger than regular ones are approved by government. Or the surprise of other characters when they see trees not with leaves but needles. Like ‘’how can you allow something like that to exist!’’.

Radiation has created not only visually detectable mutants like ‘’the norm’’ calls them, but also people with powers to communicate telepathically. And the basic idea that people can’t express fully just with words what they think or feel, which also was the main reason for the previous society’s decline. Well… I don’t know; seems a bit far fetched.
