In this thrilling sequel to AMULET #1: THE STONEKEEPER, Emily and her brother Navin head for Kanalis, a beautiful and mysterious city of waterfalls, where they hope to find the antidote for the poison that felled their mother. That cure lies in the eggs of a giant serpent atop Demon’s Head Mountain, but the kids’ archenemy, Trellis, is headed for the peak, too. A battle that will engulf all of Kanalis is looming. Mana recenzija (pārdomas)/My (thoughts) review

Vienīgais mīnusiņš, kam varētu piekasīties, ka šajā sērijā tēlu iedalījums ir strikti labajos un ļaunajos bez diža pelēkā pa vidu. Stāsta turpinājums nepavisam nelika vilties, un domājams tālāk tas nemainīsies!

***************************************

The action ramps up as Emily, the stonekeeper, and her little brother Navin tries to find a doctor and a cure to save their mother from dying from powerful poison. Both Emily’s and Navin’s characters experience a certain growth and hopefully that won’t disappear anywhere.

In this volume Emily has to learn how to control the stone’s power and use it appropriately so she wouldn’t end up like it once did with the current Elf King who is so obsessed with power that he can’t allow Emily and the stone live calmly, and is willing to do anything to stop her and everyone with her.

I really liked the new ally the fox Leon Redbeard for Emily and Navin, who has a justified reason for dislike against elves and desire to change the way it is. Besides foxes and other animals we also have talking trees, they can’t walk like ents but still. : )

The only little thing that I didn’t like that much is that in this series the characters are strictly categorized as good or bad/evil without much of the gray in between. The sequel to the first volume wasn’t a disappointment and not even close!
